26th January - Mercury club films from 1997

Films from the old "4 x 3" days!

A look through a showreel of films made by Mercury members, some of whom, sadly, are no longer with us.....

19th January - "How to make a film"

Aided by a series of film clips and YouTube videos, Mike Breeze entertained and educated us in some long established, and some new techniques of film-making.

Of particular interest were the hand held, tracking and panning shots from a mobile phone, shot using a gimbal, or just with the built-in stabilisation, and how these could be creatively used as transitions in a film sequence.

As we (almost) all have mobile phones, that definately gave us food for thought.

12th January - Quiz Night

Tonight was quiz night prepared by Alan Abbott and Dave Morton. Dave went first with his quiz which took us up to the break. One prize went to the winner , and one to the member with the lowest score.

After the break Alan presented his quiz ,again a prize for the winner and one for the lowest score. Martin Sunderland proposed a vote of thanks to Dave and Alan, which was endorsed by the members present.
